Monty's Market Manager will oversee the day-to-day operation of MWCC's two food pantries (Gardner and Leominster) and community fridges. This position will also provide leadership and supervision to the professional and student staff who work in both pantries including hiring, developing coverage schedules, and other duties to ensure that the College is meeting the food insecurity needs of our diverse student population.
This position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week with an office location in Gardner, but an expectation to provide supervision and coverage when needed in Leominster.
Responsibilities- Oversee the day-to-day operation of MWCC's Gardner food pantry and episodic support to the Leominster pantry (Marty's Markets).
- Ensure that pantry is well-stocked with food, hygiene, and other basic need essentials that promote student success, persistence, and academic completion.
- Maintain and update staffing/coverage schedule of student and PT employees who work in the food pantry to ensure consistent operating hours.
- Maintain and stock the community refrigerators on the Gardner campus (and ensure the same is happening on the Leominster campus).
- Supervise student and PT employees and interns who work in the MWCC food pantries.
- Maintain data to track usage of the food pantries and submit required data to local and state agencies when needed and/or requested.
- Collaborate with MWCC programs and community agencies to establish partnerships to address and assist students who are experiencing food and other basic need insecurities.
- Oversee refrigerated campus food lockers.
- Travel to and from local agencies (including the Worcester County Food Bank) to pick-up food for the MWCC pantries and community refrigerators.
- Conduct assessment and user surveys to ensure that MWCC's students are well and strategically served.
- Actively promote and contribute to a diverse and inclusive student service where all students ? especially those who are historically underserved - feel valued, respected, and welcomed.
- Coordinate and manage budgets and grant-funded accounts.
- Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain adaptable, and solution-focused while managing multiple responsibilities and navigating challenges in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the systemic, economic, and cultural barriers that contribute to food insecurity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Prior work or volunteer experience in non-profit, basic needs, or related community service or civic engagement roles.
- Experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel as well as comfort working on a computer to accomplish day-to-day tasks.
- Willingness to take direction, learn new skills, and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Prior supervision experience.
- Valid driver's license, frequent travel to MWCC campuses and food sites is required.
- Comfortable operating a college owned van.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Associate's degree (or higher).
- Experience with providing supervision, guidance, and/or mentorship to staff.
- Experience working on a community college campus or with college students.
- Experience working with a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingual / multilingual language skills.
- Customer service experience and the ability to interact professionally with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Ability to work within a team environment and independently on tasks.
