Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans and patient goals in accordance with standards of care, protocols, and established policies and procedures.
- Provide comprehensive care throughout all stages of labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and gynecological care; recognize complications and initiate appropriate nursing interventions in collaboration with physicians.
- Utilize fetal monitoring equipment (external and internal, including FSE and IUPC); correctly interpret fetal heart rate patterns and initiate appropriate interventions as needed.
- Perform systematic newborn assessments, provide neonatal resuscitation support, and identify and respond to deviations from expected adaptation to extrauterine life.
- Provide patient and family education on newborn care, infant feeding techniques, and discharge planning, incorporating available support systems and community resources.
- Ensure thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, patient responses, and medication reconciliation in accordance with established standards.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Massachusetts RN license.
- Minimum of one year of med/surg nursing experience.
- IV competency required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- NRP certification required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- ACLS upon hire, or active BLS with ability to obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire.
- Completion of AWHONN's Introduction to Fetal Monitoring required; AWHONN's Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring must be completed within one year.
- Prior maternity or labor and delivery nursing experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated professional behaviors including tact, empathy, and diplomacy with the ability to promote a positive working environment.
