Job DescriptionAs a Registered Nurse in Maternity Care, you will be responsible for assessing and providing nursing interventions and plans of care for patients within a maternity and gynecological setting. You will ensure safety and quality care while fostering dignity and respect for each patient. Collaboration with healthcare team members to promote effective patient and family education is essential.
Responsibilities- Assess and reassess patient needs, implementing appropriate care plans.
- Provide patient care based on established standards and protocols.
- Educate patients and families based on identified learning needs.
- Plan and prepare for patient discharge, incorporating necessary support systems.
- Delegate and supervise nursing interventions as needed.
- Document all relevant patient data and care interventions thoroughly.
- Communicate patient progress and changes to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapy as per protocols.
- Monitor labor and delivery processes, recognizing deviations from normal progress.
- Provide postpartum care, ensuring the well-being of mother and newborn.
- Perform newborn assessments and resuscitation procedures as required.
- Provide education on infant feeding techniques and newborn care.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of one year of med/surg experience is required; maternity experience preferred.
- Current Massachusetts RN license.
- IV competent and CPR certification required.
- NRP certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- ACLS certification must be obtained within 60 days if not already active.
- Completion of AWHONN's Introduction to Fetal Monitoring is required for labor and delivery nurses.
