Operating Room Registered Nurse
This position requires a 40-hour week with 10-hour shifts and a call rotation.
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the surgical environment. The role includes ensuring patient safety, maintaining sterile fields, and collaborating with surgical teams while providing compassionate and respectful care to patients and their families.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct friendly and respectful interactions with patients and team members.
- Advocate for patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and uphold regulatory compliance.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and patient care plans.
- Provide patient and family education based on identified needs and readiness to learn.
- Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others.
- Safely administer medications and perform intravenous therapy as per orders.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams.
- Ensure correct patient identification and verification of surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and interventions.
- Identify patient safety risks and suggest improvements to reduce errors.
- Maintain sterile technique and conduct proper handling of surgical supplies.
- Handle and label specimens according to established policies.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current MA RN license is required.
- ACLS certification is preferred upon hire, or valid BLS card with ACLS obtained within 60 days of hire.
- O.R. nursing experience and CNOR certification strongly preferred.
