Pay Rate
: $59 - $63/hr

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a ED for a temporary assignment in Gardner, Massachusetts. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

• Assess, reassess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions, plans of care, and patient goals
• Provide patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, protocols, and established policies and procedures
• Respect each patient as an individual and provide care that fosters dignity and positive self-regard
• Provide patient and family teaching based on identified learning needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning
• Collaboratively plan and prepare patients and families for discharge, incorporating support systems and resources as necessary
• Appropriately delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others
• Appropriately prioritize patient care, including seeking assistance from appropriate resources, reassigning personnel as necessary, and recognizing the need for emergency intervention
• Provide thorough, timely, and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses according to established standards
• Provide timely and thorough report on assigned patients to other healthcare team members to ensure integration of services and continuity of care
• Promote learning for colleagues and self, including functioning as preceptor, instructor, or trainer and attending professional development programs
• Proactively identify risks to patient safety and opportunities to reduce medical and healthcare errors, including appropriate reporting of errors and incidents
• Identify ethical issues in care and develop plans to address them
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician orders, protocols, policies, and procedures
• Assess patient pain level upon admission and as necessary using the numerical pain scale
• Reassess effectiveness of pain control, notify physicians as needed, and document assessments and patient responses to medication
• Perform and document initial assessments upon patient arrival and implement triage protocols as needed
• Identify patients at risk for potential or alleged abuse
• Initiate safety plans for domestic violence, child, and elder abuse patients
• Complete required mandated reporting in a timely manner
• Collect and document forensic evidence per policy
• Maintain chain of evidence per policy and procedures
• Complete mandated reports for stabbings, gunshot wounds, burns, and sexual assault per policy and procedure
• Maintain knowledge of Disaster Policy and Procedure
• Identify patients at risk for violent behavior and appropriately implement non-violent intervention
• Demonstrate knowledge of indications for, alternatives to, monitoring of, and documentation of restraint use
• Recognize normal and abnormal laboratory and diagnostic results and appropriately notify the physician of changes in a timely manner
• Safely administer vasoactive medications demonstrating understanding of dosage, action, use, side effects, and titration parameters associated with critical drips
• Perform accurate and timely identification of cardiac arrhythmias
• Institute, monitor, and document thrombolytic and anticoagulation therapy standards and protocols
• Demonstrate skills associated with initiation and maintenance of the intubated patient, including suctioning, troubleshooting, and weaning
• Accurately interpret arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, and clinical features of impaired gas exchange and/or airway clearance
• Obtain supporting information and complete required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the attending physician
• Implement components of the VAP bundle consistently and per protocol
• Alert the Nurse Manager, Director, or Nursing Supervisor if there is a deviation from the VAP bundle by the attending physician for case review and follow-up as indicated
• Maintain current Massachusetts RN licensure
• Maintain ACLS certification upon hire or hold an active BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire
• Obtain AHA PALS within six months of hire
