Company Description North Shore High School Garfield Heights offers a structured high school diploma program serving students in Garfield Heights, Ohio. Role Description The High School Intervention Specialist is a full-time, on-site role located in Garfield Heights, OH. This role focuses on providing targeted academic and behavioral interventions for students who need additional support to succeed and progress toward graduation. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing student needs, developing individualized intervention plans, delivering small-group and one-on-one instruction, and monitoring student progress through data collection and reporting.

The Intervention Specialist collaborates closely with general education teachers, counselors, administrators, and families to align supports and accommodations with each student’s goals and IEP or intervention plan. Additional responsibilities include maintaining documentation, participating in team meetings, contributing to school-wide support initiatives, and helping create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in academic intervention, including small-group instruction, individualized support, and progress monitoring for high school students.
  • Strong skills in behavior support, classroom management, and implementing positive, proactive strategies to promote student engagement and self-regulation.
  • Ability to interpret assessment data, develop intervention plans, and adjust instructional approaches based on ongoing student performance.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills for working with students, families, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices in supporting diverse learners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field; appropriate state licensure or certification as an Intervention Specialist or Special Education Teacher (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Experience working in a high school setting and familiarity with IEP development, accommodations, and legal requirements related to student services is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, use educational technology and data systems, and manage time and caseload responsibilities effectively.
