Job Summary
The Substitute Bus Attendant will support the Bus Driver with students to ensure passenger safety and maintain student discipline.

Salary/Hours- Pay scale: $17.70/hour
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required
- Requires current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification before start of employment.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English;
Spanish language proficiency a plus. - Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, special problems involved in dealing with handicapped children.
- Willing and able to work 6:00am until assignment is completed.
- The employee must be able to effectively communicate and interact with staff, students, families, and the public through verbal, written, and electronic means.
- Duties require the ability to see, read, hear, speak, handle, and feel objects and controls.
- Physical requirements include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and performing repetitive motions. The employee must possess sufficient strength and agility to safely move, lift, and secure students in child safety restraint systems and to assist students with entering and exiting the bus during both routine operations and emergency situations. The driver must be able to perform required emergency evacuation procedures, including entering and exiting the school bus as necessary.
The position also requires the ability to perform moderate lifting, operate a wheelchair lift, and assist students on and off the bus as needed. - Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including wet, humid, hot, and cold environments. The employee may also be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, minor vibration, and noise levels that are typically moderate to loud.
