Personal Care Assistant

Must report to Office in Garfield office on a daily basis and routes will be assigned daily.

Empower U is a rapidly growing in-home mental health organization dedicated to supporting children and young adults with developmental disabilities. We provide high-quality Respite Services for individuals ages 5–21 during after-school, evening, and weekend hours. Our mission is to empower youth and families through compassionate care, community engagement, and personalized support.

AAS:
Involves traveling to different locations. Hours are 11:00 AM–5:30 PM, or part time can be 2:00/2:30 PM–5:30 PM. Responsibilities include changing diapers, working with children with special needs, etc. Locations are Garfield, Hohokus, Chatham, Orange, and Belleville.

• Travel Between Sites — Support youth across multiple program locations, including Garfield, Hohokus, Chatham, Orange, and Belleville.
• Daily Care Support — Assist with diaper changing and general hygiene needs as required.
• Special Needs Support — Work directly with children with special needs, following individualized strategies and staff guidance.
• Program Hours — Provide coverage during full-time hours (11:00 AM–5:30 PM) or part-time hours (2:00/2:30 PM–5:30 PM).
• Child Engagement — Participate in daily activities, maintain safety, and support positive interactions within the group setting.
• Team Collaboration — Work alongside staff to maintain a structured, supportive environment for all youth.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience as a Personal Care Assistant
• At least 6 months’ experience working with children with developmental disabilities
• CPR certification
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within a 10–15 mile radius
• Working smartphone to access agency HHAX applications
• CNA, PCA, or Home Health Aide certification
• Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities (2 Years+*)
• Passion for caregiving & community support
• Reliable transportation within NJ
• Background check & clearances required
• Current college student or degree in Psychology, Social Work, Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, or related field
• Experience as a Home Health Aide
• Fluency in a second language

$22.00 per hour
