Project Engineer

We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Engineer to plan, coordinate, and deliver capital projects on time, on budget, and to specification. The Project Engineer will support project lifecycle activities—feasibility, design coordination, procurement, installation, commissioning, and closeout—while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Ideal candidates will have strong project management skills and experience with capital projects involving boilers and compressors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical and logistical aspects of capital projects from planning through commissioning and closeout, ensuring project milestones, schedules, and budgets are met.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, cost estimates, scopes of work, and risk registers; track progress and report status to stakeholders and management.
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to develop technical specifications, procurement packages, and work scopes; review submittals and vendor documentation.
  • Perform field inspections and site visits to monitor installation quality, resolve technical issues, and ensure compliance with drawings, codes, and safety procedures.
  • Manage change control processes, evaluate requests for changes, and update schedules and budgets accordingly.
  • Support commissioning, start-up, and performance testing of equipment including boilers and compressors; troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards; participate in safety planning and incident investigations as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation including progress reports, meeting minutes, design records, as-built drawings, and closeout packages.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent work experience considered.
  • 3+ years experience in engineering or project engineering roles, preferably supporting capital projects in industrial, power, or process environments.
  • Demonstrated project management skills including schedule development, cost control, contract coordination, and stakeholder communication.
  • Practical experience with boilers and compressors—installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance testing.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, OSHA).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with project management and engineering software (MS Project, Primavera, Excel, CAD) and experience preparing technical reports and documentation.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP or PE are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel
