Description
Responsible for the leadership, growth, and overall performance of the Real Estate Lending Department. This position leads the day-to-day operations of the department and implements the credit union's mortgage lending strategy to achieve loan production, profitability, operational excellence, risk management, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional member experience. The Director ensures departmental goals and initiatives support the credit union's overall strategic objectives while effectively leading, developing, and managing mortgage lending staff.
RequirementsEssential Functions & Responsibilities:
Lead the execution and performance of the real estate lending portfolio, including achievement of production and profitability goals, monitoring portfolio performance and trends, and implementing initiatives to support sustainable growth. Regularly report results, trends, and recommendations to executive leadership.
Oversee and evaluate products and procedures currently in place and implement changes as needed. Ensure full regulatory compliance and risk management, including adherence to all federal and state mortgage regulations.
Develop and execute business development initiatives to increase mortgage production, including establishing and maintaining relationships with real estate agents, builders, and community organizations. Represent the credit union in the market as the face of real estate lending.
Serve as the secondary mortgage underwriter and senior lending resource, providing underwriting support and ensuring continuity of operations during periods of increased loan volume, employee absences, or other high-demand situations.
Performance Measurements:1. Ensure the department is providing professional, timely, personal service to all members and associates, by responding to all messages and correspondence within 2 hours.
Skills:
Experience Eight to ten years of similar or related experience.
Education (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
Other Skills1. Knowledge of the secondary market and experience with first and second mortgage residential real estate lending.
2. Must have working knowledge of regulations affecting mortgage lending.
3. Must have good communication and management skills.
