Established in 1971 in Dallas, Texas, Nexus Family Recovery Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive treatment services for women and their children. The center focuses on delivering specialized care for substance use disorders and therapeutic treatments, even for women in the later stages of pregnancy. Role Description

The Detox Counselor is a full-time, on-site position based in Dallas, TX. This role involves working directly with women undergoing detoxification, providing counseling and support to ensure their safety and emotional well-being. Daily responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, facilitating therapeutic sessions, and maintaining detailed records. The counselor collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to create a supportive environment that fosters recovery.

The counselor will also engage families in recovery planning and provide educational support on substance use topics.

Qualifications
  • Counseling and therapeutic skills, including client assessment, treatment planning, and emotional support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, families, and team members
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, detoxification processes, and recovery principles
  • Experience with case management and electronic record-keeping systems
  • Ability to work empathetically while maintaining professionalism and patient confidentiality
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field (required)
  • Licensure as an LCDC, LPC Associate, MSW or similar credential (preferred)
  • Experience working with women and families in a treatment or healthcare setting is a plus
