SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe IT Support Analyst (Manufacturing Operations), where you will work hands-on with our Manufacturing Plants to support daily operations and drive continuous improvement. This mid-level position is ideal for candidates passionate about technology, shop floor experience management, and connecting business needs with innovative solutions. You will provide support and technology solutions across a multi-site contract sheet metal manufacturing organization. This will be travel (around 25%).
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Provide advanced technical support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and manufacturing equipment interfaces across all company locations.
- Administer and support business-critical systems such as ERP/MRP software (Epicor).
- Support production-floor technology including barcoding systems, scanners, label printers, industrial PCs, and data collection hardware.
- Participate in multi-site technology standardization, equipment lifecycle management, and system upgrades
- Partner closely with shop floor teams and supervisors to understand manufacturing processes, challenges, and opportunities for technology-driven improvement.
- Apply design thinking principles to identify pain points on the shop floor and help brainstorm creative solutions that enhance workflow, productivity, and user experience.
- Support business requirement gathering by interviewing shop floor workers, supervisors, and plant managers; document needs and translate them into clear IT requirements for the IT Department.
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of IT solutions within the plant, ensuring changes are communicated effectively and adopted smoothly by shop floor teams.
- Participate in process analysis and documentation efforts related to manufacturing operations, focusing on how technology can drive efficiency and solve real-world problems.
- Contribute to IT projects, especially those impacting day-to-day plant operations or improving shop floor data quality and visibility.
- Communicate project updates and shop floor feedback to IT Director, helping bridge the gap between technology and operations.
- Support shop floor staff by troubleshooting IT issues and escalating problems to the appropriate person as needed.
- Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, cybersecurity standards, and IT best practices
- Engage in ongoing learning about plant operations, ERP systems, and modern manufacturing technologies to grow your expertise and support future project work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering or related a related field and 7-10 years of experience in an IT support role – manufacturing or shop floor exposure strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools, endpoint protection, MFA, and security monitoring, ability to diagnose complex hardware and software issues in a fast-paced environment required.
- Must have an interest in design thinking, human-centered problem solving, and digital transformation in manufacturing settings.
- Preferred candidate would have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support users at all levels, have strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking, able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, have strong documentation and organizational skills, and work independently.
This role must be self-driven and accountable for their work. This role requires 25% overnight travel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSSuccessful candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds for hardware installation, as well as be able to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and access confined spaces as needed.
