Description
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Data Center Technicians to support our customers in multiple locations. The candidate will report to a site location and be responsible for ensuring data center availability and reliability, meeting or exceeding service levels. The role involves hardware and network diagnostics, physical repair, equipment installation, documentation, and participation in an on‑call rotation.
AllPhysical Requirements Are Expected With Reasonable Accommodations
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
- Work in a 24/7 environment, including on‑call rotation and after‑hours support as needed.
- Some regional travel may be required.
- Work to meet SLA’s against assigned trouble tickets via a directed workflow.
- Be the first line touch point for hardware troubleshooting and technical issues.
- Perform regular server hardware repairs (drives, motherboards, etc.).
- Carry out routine network, server hardware, and OS‑related repairs.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to complete routine work.
- Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data center.
- Participate in team meetings for metric analysis and daily/weekly goal achievement.
- Identify and help create documentation for global use.
- Identify and help create process improvements relevant to the data center environment.
- Perform server upgrades, rebuilds, scheduled works as required.
- Interact with third‑party vendors & contractors.
- Contribute to the development of other team members.
- Take ownership of technical issues brought by customers, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution.
- Show strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Solve problems at their root and understand the broader context.
- Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
- Act independently without direction or support.
- Improve effectiveness through process innovation.
- 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- 1+ years of computer networking experience.
- High school or equivalent diploma.
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
