Job Summary
The Buyer II supports purchasing and supply chain operations by executing procurement activities, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials required for production. This role focuses on tactical buying, vendor coordination, cost control, and data accuracy within the ERP/MRP system. The position partners with operations, engineering, quality, and planning teams to support daily production needs and supply continuity.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Purchasing Execution
- Execute purchase orders (POs) for materials, components, and supplies based on production or business requirements.
- Review demand forecasts and ensure timely replenishment to prevent shortages.
- Identify and elevate supply constraints, delays, or quality concerns.
- Maintain accurate pricing, lead times, and supplier information in ERP/MRP systems.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers regarding order status, delivery schedules, and issue resolution.
- Track supplier delivery performance and support corrective actions.
- Assist in managing supplier onboarding and documentation requirements.
- Support cost reduction initiatives through pricing reviews and alternative sourcing.
- Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with planning to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Review invoices for accuracy and resolve discrepancies with suppliers and accounting.
- Partner with operations and production teams to resolve material‑related issues.
- Support engineering with supplier communication for new and revised components.
- Assist quality teams with supplier corrective actions and documentation updates.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field. - Experience:
3+ years of procurement or tactical buying experience in manufacturing or similar environment. - Strong understanding of purchasing processes and supply chain operations.
- ERP/MRP system experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must be a US Person.
- Experience working with technical drawings or bill of materials (BOMs).
- Travel: ~10%
- Work Environment:
Manufacturing site and office environment. - Background Investigation / Drug Screen:
Required.
