Assistant Project Manager – Prism Electric

Responsibilities
  • Preparing submittals of drawings, material, equipment, and associated logs.
  • Submission of RFI's and associated logs along with follow‑up.
  • Preparation of change requests.
  • Assist with the change order process including take off, input, set‑up, and explanation of costs.
  • Understanding how change order work is to be performed and defending any unreasonable or uneducated objections to cost.
  • Purchasing and scoping out major purchases to ensure required quantities, compatibility with other systems, specs, and project requirements are met within or below budgets.
  • Draft purchase orders and assist with tracking associated vendor billing.
  • Draft subcontracts and unique work orders, scope out subcontractors, ensure subcontractors meet project requirements within or below budget.
  • Reviewing project costs weekly.
  • Preparing close‑out documents, i.e. as‑built drawings, OM manuals, training, panel schedules, etc.
  • Prepare equipment logs for lighting, lighting control equipment, and gear for the field.
  • Develop project schedule and monitor/update as project progresses.
  • Solicit vendor and contractor proposals.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in various stages of activities.
  • Working knowledge of billing and schedule of values including AIA setup, schedule of values setup, bonds, retainage, percent complete, billing dates, and requirements for projects.
  • Working knowledge of CTC processes and analysis reports.
  • Understanding labor reports, percent completes, project schedules, budget and labor codes, and the processes for project cost setup.
  • Properly interpret contracts, subcontracts, and associated documents.
  • Facilitate project team and client meetings effectively.
  • Assist with the information flow from the General Contractor to Construction Management, to the field.
  • Attend regular status meetings with client team and management and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Keep project team well informed of changes and updates.
  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to project team & superiors.
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
Requirements
  • Proven people management, process management, and performance management skills.
  • Knowledge of financial software, accounting practices, change order pricing, and billings.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi‑task and prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong budget tracking, labor tracking, and scheduling skills.
  • Proficiency in information analyzation and budget setup.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical code and proper means and methods.
  • Must be able to write succinct yet detailed arguments when presenting proposals for out‑of‑scope work.
