Overview
These roles prepare and produce our adhesive products, everything from making the boxes to mixing raw materials and blending formulas to produce the adhesives. Open positions are available for the 2nd and 3rd shift in the Hotmelt department, with shift differential pay.
Responsibilities- Weigh quantities of materials for use in the manufacturing processes.
- Place loose or packaged material on scales and add or remove portions of material to obtain specified weight.
- Read work orders or formulas to determine types and quantities of materials to weigh and procedures to be followed.
- Record weight of materials used for production records, and maintain perpetual inventory of materials used and on hand by recording and marking drums.
- Dump materials in prescribed sequence into vat, hopper or mixing pot.
- Monitor and log time and temperature as specified on the batch ticket.
- Start the machine and observe operation to detect malfunctions. Stop the machine and report malfunction to supervisor.
- Transfer weighed materials to production or storage areas.
- Record information such as weight, type of product, date and batch number of products produced.
- Inspect materials, products, and containers at each step of the manufacturing process.
- Train in different roles on the production line from beginning to end.
- Clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Follow all safety guidelines and processes.
- Speak, read, and write English (comprehensible).
- Learn to use and operate scan guns to report and control inventories.
- Able to lift 55 lbs. bags in a constant rhythm.
- Physically able to work 8‑hour shifts (must be open to working any shift).
- Possess minimum math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
- Work in a non‑controlled, hot and dusty environment while wearing PPE.
- Have reliable transportation and be dependable.
- Complete ongoing required safety training.
- Wear required safety PPE.
- Have drive and initiative to succeed and grow within the organization.
- Be willing and able to learn to operate forklift safely.
- Learn and practice Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
- Stand, walk, lift, bend, and climb stairs required for duration of shift.
- HS Diploma or equivalent GED.
- Successfully pass an interview, background check, and drug & alcohol screening.
