Press Operator

Job Summary
This position is responsible for setting up and operating a multi-color automatic screen-printing press, operating the DMI, and addressing any printing issues by making print adjustments, as needed, to maintain print quality, registration, color, and production speed. The Press Operator will have a good understanding of inks, solvents, and can print line, halftone, and four-color copy on a variety of substrates.

Job Summary
This position is responsible for setting up and operating a multi-color automatic screen-printing press, operating the DMI, and addressing any printing issues by making print adjustments, as needed, to maintain print quality, registration, color, and production speed. The Press Operator will have a good understanding of inks, solvents, and can print line, halftone, and four-color copy on a variety of substrates.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Checking CD/PDF and Job Ticket to verify quantities, garment colors, overrun tolerance, color sequence, substrate
• Setting up and operating the press
• Setting dryers to properly dry and/or cure inks
• Printing the job while maintaining optimum production speed and making press adjustments, as needed, to maintain print quality, registration, and color
• Operates the DMI
• Logs the reason codes when the press stops
• Following the company policies, procedures, safety instructions, and applicable laws
• Maintaining a clean workstation and press area

Experience & Education

• Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• 1-3 years of related experience and/or training
• Combination of education and experience
• Good judgement of color, design, and print quality

Skills

• Able to read and comprehend instructions, correspondences, and memos
• Able to write simple correspondences
• Able to communicate effectively one-on-one and in groups with customers and other employees
• Able to perform basic mathematics (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Reasoning Ability

• Understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written and/or oral instructions
• Problem solving

Physical Demands

• Capable of using hands
• Standing for long periods of time
• Able to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch for short periods of time
• Able to regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds
• Able to occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds
