RN Nurse, Oncology Nurse
Overview
Texas Oncology is looking for an Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position supports the Infusion Department at our Garland location. It is a full‑time Monday‑Friday role (8:30 am‑5 pm), with no weekend, call, or major holiday duties.
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
- Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time, and technique.
- Ensure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
- Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, evaluating labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred.
- Current RN state license and registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Continuing education requirements must be maintained.
- Level I: 0‑3 years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.
- Level II:
Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred. - Level Senior:
Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred; oncology certification preferred.
Work environment may involve exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Physical RequirementsFull range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination. Standing and walking for extensive periods; occasional lifts up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
