Job Description

The purpose of the Quality Technician is to positively influence the quality culture by supporting the goal of establishing a "Work to Standard" manufacturing culture. The Quality Technician supports this by first performing defined audits of product and processes against established standards and then reviewing the audit results and documented standards with workstation operators to help induce continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform defined audits of product and processes.
  • Perform materials and product qualification and quality assurance tests for Windows and Doors, including the performance test known in the industry as Test Wall.
  • Review audit findings and discuss work standards with workstation operators after every audit to provide feedback and drive continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate audit findings and review with operational leaders as needed.
  • Participate in corrective action events to improve or resolve issues with the standards, tools, or processes.
  • Participate in daily meetings and provide reflection of the previous day’s performance.
  • Communicate metrics and exceptions to leads, supervisors, and various other levels of the organization.
  • Assist in product containment, perform Critical to Quality checks, data collections, and support tier management communication.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Language

    Skills:

    Ability to read, interpret, and apply information contained in standard work documents. Effective writing and verbal skills to summarize audit findings.
  • Strong knowledge of product, processes, and standard work to determine appropriate course of action during audits.
  • Aware of the impact audits may have on manufacturing processes and the ability to operate in a manner that minimizes negative production impact while achieving key responsibilities.
  • Resiliency/Competency in understanding that the basic task of this position is to repetitively model the behavior of working to standard for others who may not immediately comply.
Must Have Qualifications
  • Team skills with the ability to operate unsupervised
  • Self-driven with a desire to learn and improve
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • For internal candidates, a minimum of 1 year experience at Andersen Corporation Garland
  • For external candidates, a minimum of 2 years as Quality technician or similar position’s experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice-to-have Qualifications
  • Measurement experience - able to use a tape measure or calipers
  • Continuous improvement experience - worked on a CI team, participated in Kaizen event, or White Belt training
  • Equipment and Quality issues troubleshooting skills and experience
Pay Range

$22.25 - $32.25
