Quality Control Technician

Job Description
Responsibilities
- Understand and follow all JSA's and safety procedures and policies
- Conduct in-process and finished product inspections on blown film extrusion lines
- Perform physical testing including:
- Gauge (micron) measurement
- Dart impact
- Tensile strength / elongation
- COF (Coefficient of Friction)
- Seal strength testing
- Verify product meets customer specifications, internal standards, and regulatory requirements
- Approve or reject materials based on quality criteria
- Other duties as assigned
Production Support
- Work closely with extrusion operators to identify and correct quality defects (e.g., gels, gauge variation, contamination, blocking)
- Provide real-time feedback to production teams to maintain quality standards
- Assist in start-ups, changeovers, and trials to ensure quality compliance
Documentation & Reporting
- Accurately record test results, inspections, and non-conformances
- Maintain quality logs, COAs (Certificates of Analysis), and production records
- Generate reports on scrap, defects, and recurring quality issues
- Ensure compliance with ISO, SQF, or company quality systems (if applicable)
Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
- Identify and document non-conforming materials and processes
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action processes
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and waste
Lab & Equipment Maintenance
- Calibrate and maintain testing equipment and lab instruments
- Ensure proper handling and storage of samples and test materials
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Candidate Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screen.
- Ability to work a 12-hour day or night shift
- Work overtime as needed
- Satisfactorily complete training courses as determined by management.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation
- Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
- Must be able to read a ruler
- 1-3 years of quality or manufacturing experience (preferred)
- Experience in blown film extrusion (preferred)
- Technical knowledge of film properties, extrusion processes, and quality standards (preferred)
- Experience with lab testing equipment and measurement tools (preferred)
- Experience with reading and interpreting specifications, work instructions, and technical data (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
