The Facilities Building Operator will maintain the equipment used in the facility’s Central Utility Plant (CUP) to supply heating, cooling, hot water, emergency fire protection, and emergency generator power. They will install, operate, and maintain the building equipment used for HVAC, refrigeration, and environmental needs throughout the facility.
- Starting Pay Rate: $36.97*
- 1st Shift: Monday – Thursday 6:00AM – 3:30PM, Friday 6:00AM – 10:00AM.
- Plan and perform a wide variety of chiller plant and refrigeration duties where only general operating instructions are available.
- Diagnose breakdowns or serious delays in operations and testing.
- Diagnose malfunctions in equipment and effectively repair in an expeditious manner.
- Modify equipment controls to achieve the most energy efficient operation possible.
- Operate computer-based building automation systems.
- Handle medium and heavy equipment or tools for repairs.
- Work in cramped spaces or on ladders and scaffolding.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to use and interpret complicated blueprints, specifications, and precision measuring instruments such as pressure gauges, meters, recorders, charts, vacuum gauges, voltmeter and log equipment.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED).
- 4 years of experience in HVAC or completion of technical school/formal training.
- Knowledge of electricity for minor repairs, and mechanical knowledge.
- BOMA Air Conditioning Certification.
- Valid EPA 608 Universal Technical Certification.
