Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Description
The Electrician will be accountable for the efficient operation of all electrical equipment and instrumentation throughout the facility, both inside and outside of the building. This position will use the Computerized Maintenance Management System. The shift schedule is a 3‑2‑3 alternating pattern with 12‑hour shifts, with off every other weekend. The position is eligible for a performance‑based bonus under the Company’s applicable plans.
Job duties include interacting with coworkers, operating heavy machinery, accessing proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and other valuable items; therefore a criminal background check is required to protect the Company’s safety and operations.
- Experience with rotary fillers, casepackers, palletizers, or wrappers (robotics highly preferred)
- Read and interpret ladder logic diagrams, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and create own layouts as required
- Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and install equipment ranging from low voltage to 480 volt/277 volt circuits, motor controls, control logic, and power wiring
- Make major installations and repairs and perform general maintenance and repairs
- Use necessary tools and instruments to independently perform tasks
- Obtain parts from storeroom and assign them to work orders using the computerized maintenance management system
- Follow safety instructions and maintain housekeeping procedures
- Notify supervisor, emergency coordinator, and other plant authorities as necessary in emergency situations
- Participate in developing Standard Operating Procedures for equipment and maintenance tasks; use these documents to ensure safe and efficient maintenance work
- Assist in capturing and maintaining accurate equipment information in the Computerized Maintenance Management System database
- Participate in the initial installation and upkeep of equipment and pipe labeling as required by plant policy
- Develop personal skills through ongoing training at the plant and through outside training classes
- Support the implementation and maintenance of an effective Preventative Maintenance program
- Make timely reporting and documentation of equipment breakdowns or mis‑operations; provide troubleshooting to minimize downtime
- Record information required for Work Order closure: time spent on task, details of the work performed, additional work required, and parts used
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have the legal right to work in the country of employment without sponsorship now or in the future
- Must have one (1) year of work experience in maintenance
- Must have an industrial, electrical, and/or welding certification or license
- Have at least two (2) years of work experience in maintenance
- Have at least one (1) year of experience with manufacturing processes such as valves, pumps, etc. (pigging systems)
