Position OverviewBear Com's Enterprise Travel Service Team is a dedicated deployment unit supporting enterprise clients with the installation and commissioning of Motorola DMR Critical Communication systems (LCP, CapMAX) and Public Safety DAS/BDA ERCES systems. As a Senior Installation Technician, you are the lead installer on the crew – the person others look to for technical guidance, steady execution, and the standard of quality that defines Bear Com's reputation.
This travel‑intensive hourly role requires 80% regional travel with occasional national deployment.
- Lead all cable plant, equipment mounting, rack build‑out, and antenna system work for Motorola DMR and DAS/BDA ERCES projects at enterprise facilities.
- Perform and oversee installation of Motorola DMR system components including CapMAX base stations, LCP infrastructure, combiners, antenna systems, and associated cabling.
- Lead installation of Public Safety DAS head‑end and remote antenna unit cabling, BDA equipment mounting, and antenna distribution per engineered drawings and NFPA 1221 requirements.
- Inspect all installation work for adherence to project drawings, manufacturer specifications, and Bear Com quality standards prior to commissioning handoff.
- Mentor teammates through hands‑on coaching and positive example on every job site.
- Read and execute installation plans, schematics, riser diagrams, and engineered drawings for complex enterprise deployments.
- Partner with the LMR Field Service Technician during testing and commissioning, contributing to continuity testing, RF path verification, and pre‑commissioning checks.
- Communicate installation progress to field management, flag potential issues early, and participate in daily briefings and kickoff meetings.
- Maintain accurate installation logs, material tracking records, and daily progress reports.
- Uphold OSHA standards, site safety rules, and PPE compliance – lead by example and never compromise on safety.
- 4–6 years of low‑voltage installation experience in commercial or enterprise environments.
- Experience leading installation work or serving as a crew lead/foreman.
- Experience with DAS/BDA systems required; ERCES Public Safety systems experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Motorola DMR or LMR infrastructure installation is a strong advantage.
- Ability to read and execute complex blueprints, riser diagrams, and RF system schematics.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred; OSHA 10 required.
- Low‑voltage license or equivalent certification preferred.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, cable testers, and basic RF measurement equipment.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Valid driver's license with clean MVR; must pass background check and drug screening.
- Collaborative leadership style – someone who elevates the people around them and takes pride in the team's success.
- Lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders, lifts, and elevated structures.
- Comfortable working in various environments including server rooms, equipment closets, rooftops, and construction sites.
- Stand, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Work in varying weather and temperature conditions.
This role requires approximately 80% travel, primarily within an assigned region with national travel as project needs require. Candidates must reside within reasonable proximity to a major commercial airport hub to support rapid regional and national deployment.
