Basic Purpose

Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of warehouse-related equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, highlifts, forklifts, batteries, etc.) to keep day and night warehouse operations functional and ensure efficient shipping and receiving of product.

Schedule M-F 6am-2:30pm overtime as needed

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to warehouse-related equipment to insure that adequate machinery is available for day and night warehouse operations.
  • Review equipment reports submitted by warehouse associates, record actions and repairs taken, and maintain a repair log per USF policy.
  • Perform PMs (Preventative Maintenance) on equipment and maintain PM log with proper documentation per USF policy.
  • Comply with all USF and government safety guidelines when working on equipment (e.g., Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding and required documentation, safe work environment).
  • Maintain and secure the battery‑charging area, batteries and other equipment contained therein.
  • Maintain company tools and maintenance equipment used in performance of job duties, including inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage and security of tool area.
  • If authorized, purchase tools and other equipment needs from local vendors.
  • Perform light maintenance duties as assigned (e.g., replacement of light bulbs, painting, storage rack repairs, light plumbing, equipment repairs, basic drywall and concrete repairs).
Relationships

Internal:
Warehouse personnel and supervisory staff, Operations support, Maintenance and Sanitation personnel. External:
Outside vendors.

Qualifications
  • Education / Training:
    High School education or equivalent preferred; additional mechanic training or trade school degree preferred.
  • Related

    Experience:

    Minimum of six months previous mechanic experience required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    Knowledge of equipment repair and operation; able to repair and overhaul warehouse equipment; welding ability; able to read and write legibly; able to follow orders; basic mathematical skills; able to work with little direct supervision.

The expected base rate for this role is between $25.70 and $37.00.
