Responsibilities
- Develop creative approaches to minimize operational costs, improve efficiency, and implement new strategies.
- Maintain and follow processes that maximize customer uptime in a cost‑effective manner.
- Ensure that data‑center problems are identified and repaired quickly; contractors deliver quality services and internal customer demands are met.
- Apply mechanical responsibilities to chilled water systems and components, HVAC systems (roof top units, CRAC/CRAH units, humidification systems).
- Apply electrical responsibilities to critical power distribution from utility or generator through UPS to customer load.
- Apply fire life‑safety responsibilities to wet and pre‑action sprinkler systems and associated detection devices.
- Test performance of electromechanical assemblies and electronic voltmeters.
- Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine methods and sequences of processes.
- Inspect parts for surface defects, install electrical or electronic parts and hardware, and align/assemble components using hand or power tools.
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.
- Analyze systems to ensure best practices for internal and external customers.
- Provide feedback to relevant teams on effectiveness of existing standards and processes.
- Work with contractors and consultants to review quality assurance for all system expansions, corrections, and upgrades.
- Track and complete an aggressive preventive and predictive maintenance program.
- Ensure data centre operates at maximum operational efficiency, recommending new technologies and cost‑reduction measures.
- Manage systems to avoid unplanned customer‑impacting events.
- Determine maintenance requirements for mechanical, electrical, and fire life‑safety systems with relevant teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular, predictable attendance essential to satisfactory performance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced qualifications or work‑related experience preferred.
- Solid experience in a similar data‑center facilities environment, or in critical facilities such as hospitals, semiconductor plants, or power plants.
- Hands‑on experience installing, maintaining or troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems such as chilled water systems, large centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, water treatment systems, VFDs, pumps, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, humidification systems, water heaters, water/air filters, BMS, PLC controls, emergency standby diesel generators, fuel systems, 480/277 and 208/120 electrical generation and distribution, static UPS systems, double interlock pre‑action systems.
- Proficiency with mechanical, electrical, and fire life‑safety systems used in a data‑centre environment (electrical distribution and layout, transformers, PLCs, generators, switch gear, UPS, etc.).
- Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and fire‑life‑safety compliance as well as building codes.
- Current knowledge of industrial safety best practices (lockout/tag‑out, arc‑flash protection, OSHA, state regulations).
- Familiarity with data trending, tracking, and analysis using PC‑based integrated critical monitoring systems.
- Ability to process hand and eye requests (tape rotation, rack and stack equipment, inventory, power‑cycle devices, patch cable installation/removal).
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral; ability to coordinate with customers, internal staff, and contractors.
- Ability to supervise and communicate effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrade work.
- Fast‑learning, problem‑solving, and multi‑tasking skills; experience in a rigorous process‑driven environment.
- Comfortable working in a high‑stress, fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities and willingness to work nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Must be able to operate hand and machine tools, electrical tools (multimeter, infrared camera), and forklift.
- Required certifications: CPR/First Aid, NFPA 70E, OSHA‑approved forklift certification or ability to obtain one after hire.
- Hourly base salary: $33.90 - $50.90, eligible for overtime pay.
- Eligible for annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

- Monthly stipend for personal mobile device use if applicable.
- Onsite work at a data‑center facility.
