Electrical Technicians perform all duties related to the installation, programming and troubleshooting of electrical components and systems on drilling rigs and equipment following standard(s) and within company safety guidelines

Responsibilities:- Complete high voltage terminations for up to 7200-volt systems
- Responsible for rig energizing and start-up process
- Trouble-shoot low voltage and high voltage systems utilizing wiring schematics, computer software, and diagnostic equipment
- Trouble-shoot electrical to electronic interfaces
- Run conduit, pull wire, and make electrical connections in a professional manner using wiring diagrams and/or electrical schematics
- Assembly duties as required
- Detect and report defective materials, faulty operation, and unusual conditions to immediate Supervisor
- Help develop and follow prescribed safety regulations / guidelines
- Work independently on wiring and programming including engine, motor and control system programming
- Perform safe rig start-up procedures
- Maintain the cleanliness of the work area and perform 5S activities
- Perform other duties as required or directed
- Train new hires
- Train participants in the internal electrical training program, including hours sign-off and reporting
- Complete appropriate paperwork for rejected parts
- Return to Stock (RTS) non-required parts to the Warehouse
Handles equipment such as multi meters, high voltage megger (Hi-Pot), pipe threader and conduit bender. Improper use of equipment or failure to correct wiring faults may cause heavy damage.
Thoughtlessness or inattention can cause fatal injuries to incumbent as well as to others.
Knowledge/Education:
- Minimum 2 + years as Journeyman Electrician
- Knowledge of safe working practices in a manufacturing environment
- Able to use and comprehend specifications, blueprints, and electrical schematics
- Knowledge of mechanical components/systems
- Knowledge of hydraulic components/systems
- Knowledge of high and low voltage electrical components/systems
