Wake County Public School System seeks a 1st Grade Elementary Teacher to foster academic and social-emotional growth in a diverse, student-centered environment. Based in a Wake County elementary school, you will plan standards-aligned lessons, deliver engaging instruction across core subjects, and use data to monitor progress and differentiate for varied learners. You'll build strong relationships with students and families, collaborate with a supportive grade-level team, and engage in robust professional development to continuously improve practice and advance equitable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver standards-aligned first-grade instruction across core subjects
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
  • Assess student learning using formative and summative measures
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse academic and social-emotional needs
  • Collaborate with grade-level, support, and specialist staff to align instruction
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom activities
  • Utilize educational technology to enhance learning and track data
  • Support implementation of IEPs, 504 plans, and intervention strategies
  • Participate in professional development and apply best practices in teaching
  • Contribute to school initiatives and a positive, collaborative school culture
