UNC Johnston has an innovative and efficient surgical program. We perform both inpatient and outpatient procedures on adult and pediatric populations. The nurses and surgical technologists provide intraoperative care for a variety of service lines including Orthopedics, Ortho Spine, General, GYN, Robotics, Neuro, ENT, Vascular, Ophthalmology, and Endoscopy.
SummaryThe Surgical Technologist II works under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
Performs surgical scrub duties across multiple services. Serves as a resource in at least one service line.
