Operations & Technical Leadership
Provide full operational oversight of all drill pier foundation projects across the assigned territory, managing multiple concurrent crews and project teams simultaneously. Serve as Grid Tech's technical authority on drilled shaft and drill pier installation, including equipment selection, tooling, methodology, and quality assurance. Direct responsibility for crew deployment, staffing levels, and personnel scaling to meet project demand — from steady-state operations up to peak multi-crew mobilizations.
Review and interpret geotechnical reports, boring logs, soil and rock classifications, and foundation design drawings to develop safe and efficient installation plans. Manage drilling operations across all soil and geological conditions, including clay, sand, rock, caliche, mixed-face, and challenging subsurface environments common across the Southeast and South-Central U.S. Oversee installation of drilled shafts up to and exceeding 120" in diameter, as well as micropyles, driven H-piles, pipe piles, vibratory caissons, and other deep foundation types as required.
Develop and implement standardized field procedures, quality control programs, and operational best practices across all project sites. Coordinate with structural engineers, geotechnical consultants, inspectors, and owners on foundation design compliance, RFIs, change orders, and technical submittals. Lead project start-up through closeout, ensuring all specifications, client requirements, and regulatory standards are met.
Leverage established relationships with major utilities, transmission developers, and EPC contractors — including entities such as Dominion Energy, AEP, Duke Energy, and similar organizations — to generate and grow new business for Grid Tech. Actively pursue new client relationships and market opportunities within the assigned territory through direct outreach, industry networking, and reputation-driven growth. Lead or directly support proposal development, project estimating, scope review, and bid strategy for drill pier foundation opportunities.
Serve as the primary client-facing representative for Grid Tech's foundation division, maintaining strong communication and long-term relationships throughout project execution. Identify and pursue program-level and master service agreement opportunities with key clients to build recurring revenue streams. Represent Grid Tech at industry conferences, utility forums, and trade events.
Build, develop, and retain a direct hire craft workforce capable of supporting simultaneous multi-state project portfolios. Cultivate and maintain a strong craft following — experienced drillers, operators, ironworkers, and laborers who will mobilize with Grid Tech across projects and geographies. Partner with HR and field leadership to develop recruiting pipelines, competitive compensation structures, onboarding programs, and retention strategies tailored to open-shop craft workers.
Develop and promote field supervisors, foremen, and crew leads from within to build organizational depth and long-term bench strength. Establish workforce planning processes to scale crews up and down efficiently in response to project volume — from small steady-state teams to large peak-delivery operations.
Own regional P&L performance for the drill pier foundation division, including revenue tracking, cost management, margin analysis, and financial reporting to senior leadership. Review and approve project budgets, schedules, resource deployment plans, and equipment utilization strategies. Monitor and drive production rates, cost-per-unit performance, and project profitability across all active jobs. Manage the full project management lifecycle — from estimating and contract review through RFIs, change orders, submittals, quality audits, and financial closeout.
Identify and proactively mitigate risks related to subsurface conditions, equipment performance, weather, labor, and logistics. Oversee equipment procurement, fleet management, and maintenance coordination in partnership with…
