Raleigh Oaks Behavioral Health – Garner, North Carolina.
Shift: 7 pm – 7:30 am, with working every other weekend on a rotation. $7,500 sign‑on bonus offered.
About the JobThe Registered Nurse provides nursing care to behavioral health patients, supervising care provided by LPNs, CNAs and other staff on the unit and shift. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized care plans, assessing and re‑assessing patients, communicating with the interdisciplinary team, and reporting patient concerns to supervisors and physicians in a timely manner.
Roles and Responsibilities- Provides and coordinates care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs, develops and implements nursing care plans, maintains medical records, and educates patients and families while ensuring patient safety.
- Assesses patient’s status on an ongoing basis and documents pertinent information.
- Ensures nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and completes the initial treatment plan upon admission.
- Accurately takes and documents physician orders (verbal or via telephone) and transcribes/curates them as per policy.
- Administers medications accurately and documents controlled substance counts; adjusts medications under provider supervision and monitors lab results.
- Notifies physician of significant status changes such as detox difficulties, medical emergencies, or medication response changes.
- Supervises self‑administration of medications using a two‑means patient identification safety initiative; documents and reports medication effects.
- Maintains accountability of medication administration, recording, control, and security, including narcotics.
- Completes admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately as directed.
- Confers regularly with the treatment team (e.g., nurses, therapists, program managers, physicians) regarding patient care and attends unit activities such as therapy groups, family meetings, staffing, and unit meetings.
- Provides education on medication use, side effects, patient rights, and other topics necessary for optimal care.
- Monitors patient acuity, census, staffing needs and arranges coverage as needed following guidelines.
- Ensures thorough documentation for all patients and completes patient assignment sheets daily.
- Provides comprehensive handover to oncoming staff, supervisors, and physicians.
- Provides coverage in emergency services as needed.
- Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
- One or more years’ nursing experience in a relevant clinical area preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred.
- Valid current RN license from the state or a compact state.
- Certified in Psychiatric Nursing preferred.
- CPR and de‑escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
- First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
