The Clerical Assistant for Older Youth supports the clerical and administrative needs of the Office of Older Youth. The position is located in Gary, Indiana, and will also support staff in Lake County and surrounding counties as needed.
SalaryThe salary for this position traditionally starts at $31,668.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.
Responsibilities- Maintain a variety of files, update case files as new material is collected, and ensure that all necessary case documentation is retained in compliance with the record retention policy.
- Prepare reports involving tabulations, balancing posted data, and simple arithmetic calculations.
- Answer inquiries over the telephone or in person concerning regulations or procedures within the specialized area.
- Receive and prepare replies to routine correspondence.
- Operate office machines related to the specific area of work.

Qualifications- Working knowledge of administrative work specific procedures.
- Ability to be tactful in dealing with persons over the telephone and in person.
- Ability to make clerical decisions regarding appropriate procedures within the specific program area.
- Working knowledge of computer software systems and data entry procedures.
- Ability to make simple arithmetic computations.
- Ability to maintain confidential records.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct ReportsThis role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
