ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only, and is not a comprehensive listing of all the duties and responsibilities performed by staff in this position. Specific duties and responsibilities are categorized within three broad areas as outlined below.
- Prepares instructional and behavioral modification materials for students.
- Coordinates instruction with classroom teachers.
- Communicates regularly with classroom teachers regarding classroom performance and behavior of identified students.
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to provide behavioral and educational interventions and progress monitoring.
- Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress in both their academic and behavioral areas.
- Utilizes tracking system to maintain accurate listing of participants and data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student progress.
- Schedules and conducts parent-teacher conferences as needed.
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Principal or Assistant Principal.
- Participates in staff meetings and in-service training programs.
- Follows the appropriate and official chain of command for all formal communications.
- Exhibits appropriate professional conduct when dealing with students, staff, parents, and members of the school community.
- Maintains open lines of communication with other teaching staff members.
- Follows all rules, policies, and procedures of Gary Community Schools along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school issues.
- Maintains high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Excellent classroom management skills.
- The ability to work well with teams of teachers and students,
- Excellent work ethics; arrives punctually for assigned duties.
- Proficiency in using computers and related software.
- Ability to assist fellow instructional staff with improvement of behavior modification strategies and classroom management skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
CERTIFICATION
A valid state certificate to practice as a certified teacher
