The Recruiter, Retention, and Alumni Coordinator is a key member of The Excel Center team, responsible for leading efforts in student recruitment, retention, and alumni engagement. This full-time, year-round position serves two campuses, either Hammond and Gary or Elkhart and South Bend, and supports adult learners 18 and older as they work toward earning their Indiana Core 40 high school diploma.
In this role, the Recruiter, Retention, and Alumni Coordinator develops and executes recruitment strategies, conducts outreach to prospective students, supports retention through proactive engagement, and oversees alumni initiatives. The position works closely with life coaches, teachers, and campus leadership to identify and assist at-risk students, maintain accurate records of student and alumni activities, and foster strong partnerships with the community.
By combining relationship-building, organizational, and communication skills, this role ensures students receive the support they need to succeed academically and professionally while strengthening long-term connections that advance The Excel Center’s mission of providing adult learners with a second chance to change their lives. Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with life coaches, teachers, and campus directors to identify and re-engage at-risk or withdrawn students and support retention efforts
• Represent The Excel Center at community events and with local organizations
• Conduct outreach to prospective students through school visits and community events to engage adult learners
• Develop and manage alumni engagement initiatives and build strong relationships with key community organizations
• Maintain accurate records of outreach, retention, and alumni activities in the student information system and prepare reports to inform leadership and future strategies
Qualifications:
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred but not required
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships
• Occasional evening or weekend availability for community or school events
• Active involvement in or strong connections to the local community
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, communications, social work, or a related field Compensation: $45,000
