Position Summary:
The Operations Manager is a mission-driven leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ministry, ensuring the alignment of internal processes with the organization's values and mission. This role supports the work of faith-filled service, social justice, and outreach to marginalized communities by strengthening systems, improving organizational efficiency, and stewarding resources with integrity and compassion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Leadership
- Oversee and improve organizational systems and procedures (administration, HR, finance, facilities, IT).
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies, legal requirements, and best practices.
- Develop and maintain operational plans that support ministry goals.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Finance team to manage budgeting, reporting, and resource allocation.
- Monitor expenses and contribute to financial sustainability and transparency.
3. Human Resources & Team Support
- Support hiring, onboarding, and staff development.
- Foster a positive, mission-aligned work culture rooted in dignity, respect, and collaboration.
- Assist with scheduling, personnel documentation, and performance management processes.
- Oversee and direct supervision of all staff with the exception of the Community/Volunteer Services Supervisor, Lead Maintenance Technician, and the Executive Assistant. In the absence of the Executive Director, assume supervision of all staff,
4. Program & Ministry Support
- Provide logistical and administrative support to program areas (e.g., community outreach, education, advocacy).
- Ensure that internal systems empower ministry teams to serve effectively and compassionately.
5. Facilities & Resource Management
- Oversee facilities operations, vendor relations, and safety protocols.
- Manage inventory and technology resources to ensure smooth day-to-day functioning.
6. Faith-Inspired Leadership
- Model values of justice, humility, and faith in service.
- Ensure that operational decisions reflect the legacy and mission of Saint Katharina Kasper and Sojourner Truth: uplifting the most marginalized with faith, hope, and practical support.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to the mission and spiritual values of the ministry.
- Master’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in operations or administration, ideally in a nonprofit or faith-based setting.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proficiency in project management tools, databases, and office software.
Capacity to lead with compassion, discretion, and cultural humility
Preferred
Skills and Experience:
- Experience working in ministries or organizations focused on social justice, poverty, or marginalized populations, including unsheltered populations
Working Conditions:
- Based in a ministry office with occasional travel to program sites or events.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.
