Precision Manual Machinist — Rotating Equipment Specialist Step into a hands-on role where your craftsmanship keeps critical rotating machinery running. Picture a shift that begins with blueprint review, tool selection, and careful setup of a manual engine or turret lathe. As parts turn and chips curl, you’ll verify tolerances with micrometers and gauges, then pivot to troubleshooting a field repair or rebuilding a rotating assembly that’s vital to production uptime.

What you’ll tackle

Perform field work repairs, troubleshooting, and full rebuilds of rotating equipment and associated machinery.

Set up and operate manual machines: engine lathes, turret lathes, milling machines, boring bars, and boring mills.

Complete machine setups for production runs and execute precise manual machining operations.

Use precision measuring tools and hand metrology to validate tight tolerances and surface finishes.

Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to deliver accurate parts and assemblies.

Assemble components with hands-on mechanical aptitude and sound workmanship.

Apply working knowledge of CNC operation; programming experience is a plus.

Troubleshoot and support CNC machine repair when needed.

What makes you successful

High School Diploma or GED.At least 1 year of manufacturing/industrial experience or equivalent education.

Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings.

Proficiency with cutting tools and measuring devices.

Pass a written MTM test and a hands-on Manual Machinist Assessment.

Solid manual machining fundamentals and strong attention to detail.

Punctuality, consistent attendance, and self-direction to support seamless operations.

Commitment to safety procedures/guidelines at all times; required PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, metatarsal-protection boots, and, when necessary, a respirator.

Willingness to work rotating 8-hour shifts that may include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, with overtime as needed.

Preferred: understanding of G & M codes and familiarity with Okuma and Mazak CNC controls.

Preferred: experience with Mazak, Okuma, or Toyoda CNC mills or lathes.

Nice to have:
Journeyman Machinist card.
