Interim Traffic/Shipping Manager Job Summary
The Traffic / Shipping Manager leads transportation and freight operations to ensure cost‑effective, compliant, and on‑time delivery of finished goods. You'll manage carriers, oversee shipping staff, analyze freight performance, and drive improvements across our logistics network.
Responsibilities- Manage inbound and outbound freight (LTL, FTL, parcel, brokered freight)
- Optimize freight costs through rate analysis, routing, and carrier management
- Monitor transit times, service levels, and on‑time delivery performance
- Manage carrier, broker, and 3PL relationships and contracts
- Ensure DOT and internal compliance across transportation activities
- Supervise traffic and shipping staff; oversee training and performance
- Partner with production, warehouse, and customer service teams
- Implement process improvements to reduce delays and increase efficiency
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- 3 years of supervisory experience
