Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Gastonia, North Carolina. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced accounting environment and is skilled in managing financial records and transactions. The role will involve a variety of responsibilities aimed at maintaining accurate and efficient accounting processes.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and record journal entries while ensuring the general ledger is up-to-date and accurate.

- Conduct monthly account reconciliations and analyze variances to identify discrepancies.

- Assist in the completion of month-end and year-end closing procedures.

- Provide support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll operations.

- Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation and records.

- Collaborate on internal and external audit requests to ensure compliance.

- Contribute to the improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.

- Manage tasks related to sales tax compliance and reporting. Requirements - Proficiency in handling journal entries and maintaining general ledger systems.

- Experience with month-end close processes and financial reconciliations.

- Knowledge of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) operations.

- Familiarity with sales tax processes and compliance.

- Strong analytical skills for variance analysis and financial reporting.

- Ability to assist in audit processes and documentation.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and external stakeholders.
