We are looking for Legal Assistant needed to support our growing law firm. We are not looking to add to our staff immediately, however, we are always interested in adding good people to our team, even if there is not an immediate need. At Neece Law Firm, we are committed to providing empathetic and experienced guidance to growing businesses and families, families meeting milestones, or those facing seemingly irreconcilable conflict.

Work location/schedule: In person at 102 E Main Ave or 212 W 2nd Ave, Suite

B. Monday to Friday, 7:50am to 5:00pm

Job Responsibilities:

Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to attorneys, including opening and closing the office daily, scheduling appointments, greeting clients, conflict checks, client intake, file creation, maintaining calendars (daily, weekly, monthly) managing correspondence, taking payments, invoicing, collection procedures, scanning, photocopying, faxing and filing documents appropriately, maintaining your personal working space, answering and routing incoming calls and making outbound calls on a multi-line VoIP telephone system, basic accounting knowledge, building rapport with clients and community.

Document Preparation and Review :
Assist in the preparation, review, and revision of legal documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Client Communication: Communicate with clients clearly and professionally, addressing their inquiries, concerns and providing updates on their cases.

Case Management: Assist in creating, managing and organizing case files, ensuring all documents are received, filed correctly and deadlines are met.

Research: Conduct legal research via books, online, or legal research software (such as Lexis Nexis) to support case preparation and ongoing litigation

Filing and Organization: Maintain a meticulously, detailed and organized filing system for both physical and electronic documents

Team

Collaboration:

Work closely with attorneys and other legal staff to ensure efficient workflow and case management. Requires use of personal cell phone for efficient communication.

Essential Core

Qualifications:

  • Strong grammar, spelling, interpersonal and customer service skills to communicate professionally (both written and oral) with coworkers, attorneys, opposing counsel, clients, witnesses, vendors, clerks, and especially dealing with clients or opposing parties who may be upset or emotionally volatile;
  • Patience and tact are absolutely essential
  • Attention to detail: possessing the ability to revise legal documents meticulously
  • Computer skills:
    Tech Savvy, Mac (Apple) based operating systems, highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Pages Numbers; proficient with Adobe Acrobat, online/cloud based file-sharing protocols or portals, legal research platforms, and e-discovery preferred
  • Ability to work independently, have excellent time management, manage diverse priorities, and be a problem solver
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Shares information with others and facilitates the open exchange of ideas and information; is open, honest, and straightforward with others
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Possess integrity, which includes traits such as: expressing gratitude for others, valuing honesty and openness, taking responsibility and accountability for your actions. Demonstrating reliability and trustworthiness, and showing patience and flexibility, even when unexpected obstacles show up
  • Willing to learn new skills as the job requires; a successful candidate may be required to perform additional tasks as needed to support the attorneys and the firm
  • Familiarity with basic legal terms and jargon

Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. (Required)
  • Certified as notary public (or willing to obtain notary public certification)
