DescriptionThe Gaston County Economic Development Department is dedicated to attracting and retaining desirable businesses and employers to continue improving and diversifying economic opportunities in Gaston County.
An hourly salary range of $37.50 to $43.59 is anticipated for this position.
Examples of DutiesThe duties listed below are not all that may be assigned but are those that are considered essential for an employee to perform.
- Assists all existing businesses with issues/needs regarding, but not limited to, workforce, training, taxation, expansion, and incentives.
- Responsible for building/maintaining new and existing relationships with all existing businesses throughout Gaston County.
- Responsible for scheduled visits with CEOs, Plant Managers, and HR Managers of existing businesses to discuss business climate and issues. Gathers relevant project/client information and provides connections to the appropriate members that allows the businesses access for growth. Coordinates programs to address issues or needs common to businesses, based upon the results of company visits and employer needs. Works with local community and business leaders to address needs and issues through visits and events.
- Represents the Economic Development Commission at various meetings ranging from Chamber of Commerce, jurisdictional organizations, educational organizations, and development partnerships. Runs and maintains the Gaston County Association of manufacturers meetings. Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback on market and business trends.
- Coordinates with Assistant Director and Business Recruitment Manager to integrate company information from HQ to local level to ensure we are addressing needs and opportunities throughout the business. Identifies opportunities for small-level campaigns, events that will lead to positive PR for businesses and the County.
- Coordinates and administers the grant program with EDC Project Administrator; oversees the process from start to delivering grant checks; grant application, grant compliance. Works extensively with Tax Department Administrator on both the Local Investment Grant and Small Business Grant.
- BA or BS in relevant field.
- 5 to 7 years in economic development or similar business development.
The applicant selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
