Position SummaryTAN Books is seeking an experienced and highly organized Production Manager to oversee all book/print and audio/visual production initiatives. This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of production projects—from manuscript readiness through file upload and filming/recording through final production—ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence across multiple concurrent initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings tangible, hands-on production experience and thrives in a fast-paced publishing environment that requires coordination across in-house teams and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities Book & Print Production- Oversee the production process for print books from final manuscript to press-ready files
- Coordinate closely with editorial, and marketing teams to ensure production alignment
- Review proofs and ensure adherence to brand and quality standards
- Manage audiobook and video production workflows from script preparation to final delivery
- Help coordinate recording sessions, studio schedules, narration talent, editors, and engineers
- Oversee post-production including editing, mastering, and formatting for distribution platforms
- Ensure consistency in brand voice, quality standards, and technical specifications
- Manage multiple production timelines simultaneously with strong attention to detail
- Develop and maintain production schedules and workflow tracking systems
- Coordinate internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure on-time completion
- Identify bottlenecks and proactively resolve scheduling or resource conflicts
- Source and manage relationships with, studios, freelancers, and production vendors
- Negotiate contracts and monitor costs against budget expectations
- Ensure projects are delivered within approved financial parameters
- 5+ years of tangible production experience in publishing, media production, or related field
- Demonstrated experience managing print production processes
- Experience overseeing audiobook and/or video production strongly preferred
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects with cross-functional teams
- Strong vendor management and outsourcing experience
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
- Detail-oriented with high standards for quality control
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- Familiarity with Catholic publishing or mission-driven organizations
- Knowledge of print specifications, file preparation, and production workflows
- Experience using project management tools and production tracking systems
- Ability to balance creative collaboration with operational discipline
