Position Summary
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a fellowship-trained Obstetric Anesthesiologist (open rank) dedicated to outstanding clinical care, education and academic excellence. UNC Hospitals, located on the main UNC campus in Chapel Hill, NC, is a premier academic medical center providing comprehensive tertiary and qua ternary care. The Division of Obstetric Anesthesia is a dynamic group of nine fellowship-trained faculty who provide care for a diverse and complex patient population, supporting an ACGME-accredited fellowship program and actively participating in resident and medical student education.
UNC performs more than 4,400 deliveries annually, including high-risk maternal and fetal cases such as maternal cardiac disease, placenta accreta spectrum disorders and a wide range of hematologic and neurologic conditions. The physician will be a member of the faculty practice and has opportunities for scholarly contribution and development.
- Provide clinical care for high-risk obstetric patients and collaborate closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine colleagues for advanced perinatal care, including fetal surgery programs.
- Supervise fellows, residents, CRNAs, CAAs and work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Participate in education and training of graduate-level learners, including medical students, residents and fellows.
- Engage in scholarly contributions and academic development.
- Medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent).
- Completed an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology Residency program and be ABA certified or eligible.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship is required.
- Eligible for licensure in North Carolina.
- Strong interest in academic medicine and commitment to teaching graduate-level learners.
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, education, and scholarship.
- Comfortable providing care independently and within a collaborative care team model, including supervising fellows, residents, CRNAs, CAAs.
