The Department of Biology at Appalachian State University invites applications for a 9‑month, non‑tenure‑track position as Introductory Biology Teaching Professor to start in Fall 2026. The individual will contribute to the continued development of a progressive introductory biology program.

• MS in Biology or related field;
  PhD (Biology or related field) or MS (Biology or related field) with EdD preferred
• Eligibility to teach in person beginning Fall 2026

• Teach 12 teaching hours per semester, primarily first semester introductory courses for biology majors and non‑majors
• Possibly develop an upper‑level course or course‑based undergraduate research experience (CURE) depending on departmental need and expertise
• Update introductory laboratory curricula to reflect best practices in biology education and contribute to program assessment
• Serve on the Introductory Biology Steering Committee and provide undergraduate academic advising
