Our mission is to inspire children to be creative, mindful, and influential members of the world they live in.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and caring NC Pre-K Assistant Teacher to join our team and support a high-quality, developmentally appropriate program for 4-year-olds in alignment with North Carolina Pre-K standards. In this role, you will assist in guiding a classroom of young learners through intentional, play-based experiences that build a strong foundation for kindergarten and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing Creative Curriculum-based lesson plans that support all domains of development and meet NC Pre-K program standards.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes exploration, discovery, and meaningful learning.
  • Help conduct regular formative and summative assessments to document children’s progress using approved assessment tools.
  • Foster strong relationships with children and families to support ongoing communication and family engagement in the learning process.
  • Collaborate with the Pre-K Lead Teacher and center leadership to ensure a high-quality and consistent educational experience for all children.
  • Support the implementation of strategies that promote social-emotional development, positive behavior, and a respectful, community-focused classroom culture.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with all North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE) and NC Pre-K Program requirements.
  • Participate in required NC Pre-K training sessions, professional development, and team planning sessions.
Qualifications:
  • Must meet NC Pre-K Assistant Teacher qualifications, including:
    • A high school diploma or equivalent, and
    • At least one of the following:
      • NC Early Childhood Credential (earned by completion of EDU 111 and 112 or EDU 119), or
      • A post-secondary two-year degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Growth & Development, or Early Childhood Special Education from an accredited institution of higher education, or
      • A nationally accredited credential certificate such as CDA, CCP, MACTE, AMS, or AMI Montessori.
  • Prior experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed early learning setting is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a passion for supporting the growth and development of young learners.
  • Must pass all required background checks and health screenings in accordance with DCDEE regulations.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of walking, standing, bending, squatting and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Able to move quickly to respond to children's needs and to ensure child safety.
Why Join Learning Jungle?
  • Supportive, inclusive work culture grounded in early childhood best practices.
  • Opportunities for continued education and career advancement.
  • Competitive salary and benefits aligned with NC Pre-K standards.
  • A meaningful role shaping the future of young learners and their communities.
