The Maintenance and Reliability Manager leads all maintenance, engineering, reliability, and capital project activities for the Gastonia manufacturing site, ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient operation of equipment, facilities, and infrastructure. As a member of the site leadership team, this role drives a strong safety culture, manages maintenance and engineering personnel and contractors, and oversees the prioritization and execution of the site's capital portfolio.
The position partners across functions to maximize asset reliability, support customer commitments, enable business growth, and drive continuous improvement in operational performance.
Responsibilities- Lead and exemplify a culture where ‘safety is a core value’ and ensure safety is the first consideration. Expected to always model and coach the appropriate behaviors.
- Provide leadership for maintenance & reliability programs, including continuous improvement, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action.
- Manage and lead the capital execution to ensure reliable and repeatable project execution.
- Promote a plant culture that is responsive to the manufacturing environment and business needs through teamwork and personal accountability.
- Oversee talent management and employee development and promote constructive employer relations.
- Ensure site compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Ensure alignment between the plant goals and the different business strategies.
- Ensure both plant and Lubrizol systems/standards are followed and improved.
- BS in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred) or related field.
- 7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience.
- 3+ years of capital project engineering experience with demonstrated competencies to successfully manage project and construction activities.
- Experience with US and NC State regulatory codes.
- Experience working effectively in a matrix organization.
- Commitment to using preventative maintenance to drive equipment reliability.
- Capable of leading problem‑solving teams.
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Strong MS Office product knowledge and skills.
- Standing, walking, or operating equipment for extended periods.
- Working in a lab or manufacturing setting with appropriate PPE provided.
- Use of computers and digital tools in an office or hybrid environment.
- Occasional lifting or movement of materials.
- Adherence to rigorous safety protocols and ergonomic standards.
