The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking applicants for a Sworn Deputy in the Civil Division. The Deputy will execute civil documents issued by the court such as summons, executions of judgments, claims and deliveries, notice of rights, summary ejectments, writs of possession, subpoenas, civil orders for arrest, notice of incompetency, and juvenile summons. The position also performs the duties of a North Carolina Law Enforcement Officer as directed by the Sheriff or his designee.

Additional duties include executing child support warrants and show‑cause orders.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Court Division with duties and responsibilities relating to overall court operations.
  • Maintain the ethics and integrity of the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Assist the Alamante County Health Department, Social Service, Alamance County Tax Office and the Alamance County Board of Elections as needed.
  • Maintain adherence to proper law enforcement procedures, including those required in emergencies.
  • Assist in relieving the front desk officer in the Administrative Office.
  • Engage with and greet citizens in a professional manner.
  • Obtain and maintain certifications applicable for the position.
  • Use discretion effectively to determine a proper course of action consistent with the department’s mission and values.
  • Maintain the confidence and trust of peers, superiors, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 20 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the following:
    Oral Interview, Background Check, Polygraph Examination, Psychological Evaluation and Drug Screening.
  • Currently certified as a North Carolina Law Enforcement Officer (passed NC Basic Law Enforcement Training).
Computer Skills

Basic knowledge in MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Work Schedule

This is a full‑time position. The normal workweek is based on a schedule of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Physical Requirements

Vision (near, distance, peripheral, color, depth perception) is required. The employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to operate general office equipment.

The position will be located at the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office. The role requires interaction with administration, supervisors, court personnel, the public, and members of the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office.
