Description of Work

Exciting things are happening within DNCR and the NC Zoo. We are seeking an enthusiastic and outgoing professional to serve as Division HR Manager and oversee a full range of human resources services onsite at the NC Zoo. This position is positioned under the central Human Resources team and reports to the Assistant HR Director for Divisions.

  • Disciplinary actions
  • Performance management
  • Supervising and acting as a business partner in the creation and implementation of HR initiatives
  • Planning and processing improvements supporting the business direction and HR needs primarily for the NC Zoo; may assist other divisions as needed
  • Managing and serving on project teams as assigned
  • Serving as HR Partner to the Division as a member of Senior leadership, supporting Division initiatives
Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience
:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited institution and at least 4 years of experience in human resources with some experience in an HR lead position.

Specific Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

(preferred):

  • Demonstrated knowledge of HR principles and practices as an HR generalist or specialist in core HR areas (salary administration, time and leave, recruitment, benefits administration, organizational management and/or classification and compensation)
  • Experience with HR functions in an Integrated HR-Payroll System
  • Experience managing and directing HR programs while supervising HR professionals and technical staff
  • Experience analyzing problems and formulating recommendations with negotiation skills

Recruitment Range
: $67,122-$87,550

Position/Physical Requirements
  • Typical work schedule:
    Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
  • Must be able to commute to DNCR Central HR Office in Raleigh, NC for monthly in-person meetings and as needed

Division Description

The Human Resources Office provides comprehensive HR and safety services to all divisions. Core services include policy administration, employee relations, staff development, benefits, classification and compensation, recruitment and retention, salary administration, diversity and inclusion, performance management, safety and wellness.
