Examples of Duties

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $18.56 to $22.04.

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

  • The interpreter will accompany the NHV staff on home visits to interpret program content, assist in collecting medical and data information as necessary, and interpret questions and answers.
  • Make initial home visits with NHV staff as needed to interpret/translate for non-English speaking clients to discuss the program. If client is interested, interpreter will assist with the enrollment forms.
  • Assist the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) administrative assistant in contacting non-English speaking client referrals to introduce the program and to schedule an appointment for a nurse-home visitor (NHV) to meet with the potential client.
  • Interpret phone and text messages and respond as needed.
  • Interpret/translate for NHV's during telehealth and/or virtual visits as noted above.
  • May need to translate program and outreach materials.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilites as assigned including but not limited to: community outreach, community events, and client events.
  • Adhere to code of ethics and standards of practice, maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies.
  • Implement strategies at achieving health equity, including but not limited to: attending trainings to better understand inequities, identifying and addressing barriers to health, engaging in internal or external efforts to eliminate health disparities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Demonstrated fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Valid license to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Knowledge and acceptance of diverse cultures is essential.

The selected candidate will be required to complete a Language Proficiency Test, which will be administered at the time of hire.

Additional Information

The applicant selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
