DescriptionIt is the mission of Gaston County ACCESS Central Transportation to enhance the quality of life for the citizens and of Gaston County by providing timely, cost efficient, high quality, general public and human service transportation.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $18.56 - $22.04
DutiesThe duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform:
- Transports passengers to and from destinations in the safest and most efficient manner.
- Maintains accurate daily trip logs and provides necessary data for ACCESS’ accounting system as required; receives and accounts for all fares as collected daily.
- Inspects vehicles prior to beginning of a route and at the end of shift; inspecting for any service or maintenance concerns. Responsible for getting fuel at the propane and fueling stations.
- Operates 2‑way radio equipment to receive or provide passenger information.
- Provides physical assistance to passengers upon entering or exiting the vehicle; monitors and controls client’s behavior during vehicle operation.
- Ensures that all applicable safety precautions are taken during vehicle operation.
- Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the inside and outside of the vehicle.
- Participates in quarterly trainings to improve knowledge and skills.
Requires high school diploma or GED and must be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of two years of driving experience.
Must have a good driving record for the preceding two years. Any applicant that is selected for consideration will be subject to a driving record review prior to being interviewed.
- Must be able to accept and follow instructions.
- Having a working telephone at place of residence is a necessity for this position.
- Must be bondable, courteous, dependable and able to relate to people of all ages and economic and ethnic backgrounds
- Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.
- A valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
The applicant selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
