Seeking an experienced and passionate farmer interested in a partnership rooted in reciprocity. We strive to be different from typical farm labor positions.

OBJECTIVE:

An energetic, hard-working and thoughtful human who aids in completing the necessary day-to-day tasks at our organic produce + flower in Rutherford Co. NC, 40 min from AVL. Position is part-time with the season running April 1st - January 1st. Position is for 12 hours a week in total: six hours on Monday and six hours on Wednesday. Ability to stay later when necessary is appreciated.

Additional hours will be available in August.

• Harvesting a wide variety of crops efficiently and independently
• Post-harvest treatment of all crops: washing + packing
• Mulching / cultivating beds quickly and efficiently to suppress weeds
• Flipping beds with tarps + amending organically
• Washing work spaces + harvest tools, retaining food safety standards
• Push mowing / string trimming living pathways
• Planting throughout the season
• Trellising, pruning + maintaining crops
• * Plus vending at the farmer’s market for additional pay in August

• Must be able and willing to lift 50+ lbs. regularly
• Must be able and willing to hustle and be on your feet all day
• Must be able and willing to work in all types of weather conditions, including high heat, humidity, cold and rain
• Must be able to access our rural location via car
• Must possess effective and positive communication skills
• Must be goal-oriented and self-motivated in order to work independently on a regular basis

This position reports to the farm in Rutherford Co. NC (zip 28167). Compensation starts at $20/hr. along with year-end bonuses + weekly produce.
