Position Overview

Brooksource Engineering Services is seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians to support operations within a highly automated pharmaceutical device manufacturing environment in Durham, North Carolina. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment used in device assembly, packaging, and material handling operations.

The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with experience supporting automated manufacturing systems. Technicians will partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Reliability teams to maximize equipment uptime, improve line performance, and ensure production schedules are achieved in a safe and compliant GMP environment.

Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment and supporting systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated equipment failures.
  • Diagnose root causes of equipment issues and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Repair, replace, and align components including motors, gearboxes, bearings, drives, pumps, sensors, actuators, and conveyors.
  • Support equipment changeovers, startup activities, and maintenance shutdowns.
Automation & Controls Support
  • Troubleshoot equipment utilizing PLC-controlled systems, VFDs, servo motors, HMI interfaces, sensors, and robotics.
  • Support highly automated manufacturing and packaging equipment, including pick-and-place systems, conveyors, vision systems, and material handling equipment.
  • Assist Engineering teams with equipment modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support implementation and validation of engineering changes impacting manufacturing equipment.
Operational Excellence
  • Execute maintenance activities in accordance with GMP, safety, and documentation requirements.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance records, and equipment history documentation within CMMS systems.
  • Drive improvements in equipment uptime, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reliability, and operational performance.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Collaborate with Operations to rapidly respond to equipment issues impacting production.
Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere to all site safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE expectations.
  • Perform work safely in and around mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Maintain compliance with pharmaceutical manufacturing regulations, procedures, and quality systems.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Experience supporting automated manufacturing, assembly, or packaging equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, calipers, and electrical testing devices.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance manuals, technical documentation, schematics, and equipment drawings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Multi-craft maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology, food and beverage, or highly regulated manufacturing experience.
